Mazzy Star: Into Dust

This is a beautiful song and along the lines of what I love about early-mid 90′s music.  Has a grunge tinge to it.  Most may know it from the Gears of War Trailer, you may also know Mazzy Star from their song Fade Into You.  I love Hope Sandoval’s voice.

Chaos

2010-03-01-chaosSpent a long few days and emotional roller coaster at the vet’s Thursday that has finally come to a hopeful end.  The greatest dog I’ve ever had, Chaos, had some swelling in his stomach. They said he had a muffled heart beat and arrhythmia. X-rays showed he was retaining liquid around the stomach and after a sample and, based on color, he the thought it was his heart and common with right ventricular failure.

I took him to the MedVet hospital along with the x-rays and they gave hope that it could be something with the liver as well as the best prognosis but also the minimal prospect of inflammatory bowel disease but he did say his heart appeared normal in size with no liquid around it, and the rest of the liquid could cause pressure resulting in the other things so that was a bit of a boost.

Life Destroying Comet Misses Earth By less than 200 Miles!

CometOK, so it was way back in 1883 but an interesting story never the less…

On 12th and 13th August 1883, an astronomer at a small observatory in Zacatecas in Mexico made an extraordinary observation. José Bonilla counted some 450 objects, each surrounded by a kind of mist, passing across the face of the Sun.

Bonilla published his account of this event in a French journal called L’Astronomie in 1886. Unable to account for the phenomenon, the editor of the journal suggested, rather incredulously, that it must have been caused by birds, insects or dust passing front of the Bonilla’s telescope. (Since then, others have adopted Bonilla’s observations as the first evidence of UFOs.)

Today, Hector Manterola at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City, and a couple of pals, give a different interpretation. They think that Bonilla must have been seeing fragments of a comet that had recently broken up. This explains the ‘misty’ appearance of the pieces and why they were so close together.

Netflix

I find this as a curious e-mail.  What have they changed?  I canceled because of the new rates, they even sent out an apology in an attempt to say “we’re sorry for being so brazen about the increases”.  Now they send another message saying “get more than ever before for only $7.99″ with a title of “Unlimited movies are just a few steps away…” as if they actually have the movies or CURRENT TV shows I want to watch.  It’s as if they’re repeating, once again, how great they are even after the 60% increase and HORRIBLE selection for streaming.  Are they suddenly getting more titles at release or improved the mediocre selection they had a few months ago?

Seriously-Netflix

I’m sorry, if you complain about it and subscribe to either service, you caved and played right into their plans.  You’re still giving them money, so if you pay any kind of money to this company, don’t make the first complaint about the service change, you gave in, don’t try to rectify it.
