The Moon & the Future

I’m disappointed in hearing that we’ll potentially not be able to start setting up a base on the moon in 2020.  While I wasn’t around when the first landing occurred, I was there for the incredible amount of books for children in the mid-70’s talking about space exploration and the moon landings.  I remember looking out my window and having dreams of visiting the moon or being an astronaut.  It seemed to be one of my biggest memories of being a child.  I guess it was one of those things that initially set things into motion of me being a geek.  I really think it’s odd that our current government administration is so set on taking over the country’s corporations & industries that they’re setting NASA funding aside that it will actually be corporations that will end up being the future of our space exploration.

Regardless, it’s not much of a point I was just disappointed in hearing that flaws in the current rockets are potentially holding us back from the 2020 date.  I’m unemployed at the moment but I’m all for funding for our space exploration.  We can’t stop technology from advancing because of economy.  I’d much rather see the money going towards our potential advancement in space than going to some of the freakin’ pet projects that the crap we’re using in the spendulous package.
